News Package
Rock the boat
A few years ago, I produced this film in my broadcast journalism class with Dr. LiPu. In this project, we were assigned groups to produce a news package. As a group we went on a search looking for upcoming events. Finally, we found an event with a competition called, “Rock The Boat”. The competition gave students the opportunity to pitch their best business ideas. We decided this would be a great opportunity to shoot a news package. My group went out taking the shots, while I took the position to edit it together. The editing software I used was a program called Pinnacle. I wanted this news package to look like an actual news package. Doing this, I took the audio from the video and simply kept it running while my partner was interviewing in the clips I made sure for who he was interviewing, to show other clips of that person presenting his idea. Also, I made sure that only the interviews audio was playing, while other relevance clips were silent (a lot similar to my music videos). Also, made sure to add text in the lower thirds to show who was talking and who he was interviewing. This gives a more presentable news package. Seeing the outcome of the video pieced together, felt great. Receiving positive feedback, gave me confidence as a video editor. I could not wait to take on more projects coming my way soon.
